Some new sites
Despite being horribly busy with my architectural studies for the past few months, I managed to spend some time in creating new websites, which two of them are the Malay College of Kuala Kangsar official website and Faculty of the Built Environment Alumni website.
For the MCKK website, the design was finalised for almost a year already. However, due to time constraints & not being able to contact Ayahanda (Principal) to get his permission + server access details, the proposed design was never been uploaded until a month ago. I started designing the website when I saw the old and horrible PhpNuke powered mckk.edu.my site (which went live for almost two years).
Back in January early this year, I took a back breaking journey to Kuale (Kangsar) on a bike to get this settled with. I decided that it was the time to go back to my old school after I received an SMS from Ayahanda asking me to contact me whenever im in the vicinity. After the 2 and half hours of quite a fast ride, I arrived and pleasantly surprised to see that the school compound did not seemed to change at all! Everything was still the way when I left koleq (as what MCKK is affectionately known), except for a new building under progress for MCKKs' new "International Baccalaurette Diploma / IBD " programme
The site is based on Joomla , and the design was inspired much by ExpressionEngine official site. I tried to keep the site simple, clean yet elegant that suits MCKKs' stature. There are two main areas of the site. First is the one seen by any visitor, which is rather streamlined and hopefully professional-looking. The second one is only available to those registered users after they have logged in. Some of the features are basic community functions, such as forum (Fireboard component), private messaging system (Clexus PMS), commenting system (JomComment), Gallery (PonyGallery) and calendar.
You guys may give it a try by using test:test1432 credential. Bear in mind that there are many things left to polished, and I welcome plenty of comments & criticism.
For Faculty of the Built Environment (University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) Alumni website, it is a pretty straightforward community driven site where it does not need to be as clean and elegant as MCKKs' website. Although both are using almost identical components, it is rather interesting to see the different approach in achieving the end result.
